YouTube channels are targeting the youngest audience with AI content. Bloomberg reports a growing wave of creators are using AI to churn out colorful, “educational” kids’ content. Some say using AI for kids’ content can bring in hundreds of dollars a day with minimal effort by increasing how often they can post. YouTube use has jumped more for children under 2-years-old than any other age group in the last five years, with over 60% of parents saying their infant or toddler watches the platform daily. But experts warn early exposure to low-quality AI content could affect language development, emotional growth, and critical thinking skills as 90% of children’s brains are developed by age 5-years-old. The challenge for parents is that even on YouTube Kids, AI-generated videos are nearly indistinguishable from vetted content. (Bloomberg)
