Forget the talking stage, Black Gen Z singles are rewriting the dating playbook. BLK’s 2026 Dating Trends Report surveyed over 4K users of the dating app BLK and found Black Gen Z singles are approaching romance like an emotional investment. They want receipts for a potential partner’s values: nearly half (48%) are “prequalifying” matches by raising topics like faith, politics, and money habits within the first few conversations. Hoping to cut down on wasted time, 82% say they regularly assess their “emotional ROI” in relationships. The trend toward “Community Cuffing” is also real, with 40% meeting partners IRL through church, run clubs, or creative collectives where mutual friends can vouch for character. Situationships may have defined the early 2020s, but this demo is looking for clarity, consistency, and accountability as the new baseline. (Baller Alert)
