U-Haul is getting love on socials for using a breakup call audio. In an ad posted last week, the brand used an old viral audio of a girl breaking up with her boyfriend (“I wanna break up… love just isn’t enough”), cutting between shots of U-Haul trucks after each line. Within 24 hours, the ad hit 4M views, 575K likes, and sparked a comment section full of excitement from young viewers. Commenters praised “whoever runs U-Haul’s social,” demanding raises for them and calling the ad “insane.” (In a good way!) Other brands even joined in on the fun in the comments, like AT&T who replied, “we’ll separate that phone bill,” and VRBO who offered a place to stay. Gen Z rewards humor and a human touch in marketing, and the comments practically turn into the ad. (Parade)
