“Nun-core” is going viral as Spain leads Gen Z’s Catholic surge. From TikTok confessionals to packed Latin Masses, Catholicism is trending among Gen Z, and not just for aesthetics. Convents from Burgos to Ávila report full houses, and Spain’s government shows 18-24-year-olds who identify as Catholic rose to 39% in 2025. Dioceses across the globe also report 30–70% more adult converts under-35-years-old. France saw a 45% jump in adult baptisms in 2025, with 44% under-25-years-old. In the U.K., 41% of young Christians attend Catholic services, roughly twice as much as Anglicans. For many young people, loneliness is the driver, with 21% reporting serious loneliness pushing young people toward ritual and community. Music is following the trend—like Rosalia’s recent single and cover art filled with choir-inspired and Catholic imagery—while films and podcasts reframe convent life as aspirational.
