For young consumers, aesthetic procedures are more about self-care than self-critique.

Oct 23 2025

For young consumers, aesthetic procedures are more about self-care than self-critique. Gen Z and Millennials have been reshaping the conversation around cosmetic culture with a focus on mental health, subtlety, and purpose, deeming even invasive procedures as an act of emotional wellness. Experts say Millennials, caught between a typical fear of aging and a desire to remain authentic, tend to favor natural, “less is more” results and treatments that double as stress relief. Meanwhile, Gen Z takes what they see as a pragmatic, preventative approach—using Botox and fillers to maintain confidence before change begins. (Though, critics of this approach are precisely what garnered viral headlines like last year’s “Gen Z is Aging Like Milk.”) What unites both is a demand for empathy and transparency in their beauty ambitions.
