Gen Z is spilling to chatbots about work stress. A Resume.org survey found that among full-time Gen Z workers who have used an AI in the last week, 40% talk to AI for at least an hour daily, and 34% have told a chatbot something they’ve never told a real person. Career experts say AI “fills the relational void, and it never criticizes,” which explains why 25% of those using it describe their chatbot as a therapist, coach, or friend. At work, 38% take “AI-powered breaks” to vent and decompress, with 33% using it to talk through work stress specifically. Mental health leaders warn about the limits of this outlet though, noting that general chatbots can “overlook warning signs or offer articulate yet clinically unsound advice.” (Fast Company)
