Gen Z and Millennials are deeming themselves lions and lionesses who “do not concern themselves” with drama. Borrowed from the Game of Thrones quote, “The lion doesn’t concern himself with the opinions of the sheep” is TikTok’s new way to say, “I’m unbothered.” But instead of just being used by grindset accounts to push more hustle, TikTokers now list what doesn’t concern them (or actually really does) in daily life. Many clips use the song “Dreamer” by Livin’ Joy and a deadpan delivery to poke fun at the serious grind mindset this quote used to belong to, replacing self-optimization with acceptance and humor. Creator @ckwon117 helped popularize the format this summer with tongue-in-cheek riffs like the lion “not worrying about screen time” or “washing a water bottle.” Now, the lions and lionesses aren’t concerning themselves with what happens when they hit a curb, putting away clean clothes, or being nonchalant.
