Gen Alpha has huge spending power and influence within their families. According to a report from public relations firm DKC, children 8-14-years-old directly spend $101B annually and influence nearly half (42%) of their household’s total spending. These kids not only have their own money—with the average Gen Alpha spending about $67 a week each—but also shape family decisions on food, entertainment, vacations, online shopping, and even charitable giving. YPulse datahas long shown this influence, with 68% of parents saying their children impact regular purchases. And sometimes this goes beyond typical kid categories like toys and snacks, and into brands originally targeted at older consumers like Drunk Elephant and lululemon, often fueled by social media and influencers their kids watch.
