Gen Z is struggling to move from school into the workforce. The gen is entering the workforce with outdated advice and little real support, leaving many feeling unprepared for the jobs of the future. A new report from the Schultz Family Foundation and HarrisX found that nearly half of young people don’t feel ready for today’s evolving job market—especially with tech and AI changing things so fast. Parents, teachers, and counselors often give guidance based on their own past experiences, which no longer match today’s reality. Meanwhile, employers want candidates with experience but aren’t offering enough internships or training. Many young adults are unsure how to move forward, even though they’re gaining useful skills in current jobs. The system meant to guide them isn’t keeping up, and Gen Z is feeling the disconnect.
