Dove just launched a podcast that discusses Y2K’s toxic beauty ideals. In an effort to empower Millennial women whose childhood and teen years were impacted by toxic beauty standards of the early 2000s, Dove teamed up with Razorfish to launch the podcast “Why2K.” According to Dove, 75% of Millennial women say harmful beauty messages from the era still effects how they feel about their bodies today, and the platform’s mission is to help these women “reclaim their body confidence.” The episodes will feature everything from “science-backed exercises” developed with body image experts to celebrity appearances from actresses like Pamela Anderson who will share their own experiences. And with YPulse data showing 52% of 25-39-year-old females say social media makes them feel bad about their appearance, a body-positive podcast could be what they need to improve their mental health when it comes to body image.
