Gen Z is coping with the possibility of World War III the only way they know how—through humor.

Jun 24 2025

Gen Z is coping with the possibility of World War III the only way they know how—through humor. While Millennials grew up with news of U.S. invasions in the Middle East, Gen Z hasn’t experienced the threat of war until now. In true Gen Z fashion, they took to social media to cope with the scary news, and many are going viral for their “unserious and depressing” takes. Posts on TikTok range from #ww3 GRWM’s and movie-like draft scenarios to parody ballads with the lyrics “hey Iran please don’t bomb us.” And while Vice President JD Vance has said America is not at war, many Gen Z users are still taking to social media to express their opposition to military interventions overseas, citing things like the environmental damage caused by strikes.
