Roblox and Chipotle are teaming up once again, this time tapping into trading card hype. ICYMI, collectible trading cards are soaring in popularity amongst Gen Z and Gen Alpha—think Pokémon, My Little Pony, and cartoon series like Ultraman. And now Roblox is hopping on the wave, virtually. (Just as YPulse predicted brands would be engaging virtual collecting this year!) On May 5, “Ingredient Quest” will launch within the already existing “Burrito Builder” experience on Roblox, allowing players to search for 53 virtual cards that represent different Chipotle ingredients—all with an emphasis on education that explains how the chain uses “real food.” Plus, the first 50K players who attain all the cards can score a free entrée code. And with social media reaction videos of players’ favorite cards or newest “pulls” going viral, the two brands hope their latest activation will help boost sales during a “softer summer season” financially.
