Gen Z’s political gender divide is making it harder for them to find love. As young women increasingly lean liberal and young men trend conservative (13-39-year-old males are +7pts more likely to describe their politics as conservative, according to YPulse), ideological compatibility is becoming a major factor in relationships. In fact, according to eHarmony’s 2025 Dating Diaries report, 28% of Gen Z and 21% of Millennials say differing political views are a firm deal-breaker. For some, politics feel strongly tied to their identity, so they’re unwilling to compromise with different beliefs in their relationship. Dating experts think this could have lasting impacts on the nation’s political unity and limit meaningful connection across ideological lines, as romantic relationships often influence long term community ties.
