Netflix may soon be adding video podcasts to their platform. With their rising popularity and the next generation of creators in mind, Netflix’s’ co-CEO Ted Sarandos says that Netflix could be adding video podcasts to the streaming service. The move feels like a natural next step as interest in creator-driven projects has increased—YouTube accounted for 12% of TV watching time in March compared to Netflix taking up almost 8%. And with influencer fronted shows like Beast Games and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives already seeing massive success, Netflix is actively looking for the next wave of creators to partner with. However, for creators who already have a massive following on podcasts and across multiple platforms, the benefits of partnering with a streaming service over other platforms is unclear. Some worry they might not be in control over the production and could risk losing that one-on-one connection with their audience. (Business Insider)
