Gen Z has different dream schools than their parents, but both are wondering how they’ll afford it. Fortune reports that MIT ranks as students’ top choice school this year, over their parent’s top choice of Princeton. But either way, dream schools are leaving them focused on the rising cost of college. With tuition at top schools nearing $100K per year, 98% of parents and students say financial aid is a must, and 38% cite student debt as their biggest worry—up from only 6% in 2003. YPulse data shows that while parents still see college as an essential, many are shifting their priorities, with 80% encouraging their kids to get an affordable education, regardless of where they go. In fact, 67% of parents tell YPulse the name of a school isn’t important when applying for jobs. (Fortune)
