Spring break travel costs are hitting record highs.

Feb 27 2025

Spring break travel costs are hitting record highs. Flights, hotels, and even gas prices are surging, making budget-friendly spring break getaways harder to find than ever before. A trip during peak school break periods now costs around $8K—more than double what it did in 2019. But that’s not stopping college students from booking trips; despite rising costs, Gen Z is still looking at circling back on big trips that they’ve been thinking about since before 2020. This year, Squaremouth reports that warm-weather destinations are seeing the biggest spikes in tourism, with Italy and Japan ranking as the most popular choices. And while affordability is of course a factor, many young people are still willing to splurge on once-in-a-lifetime trips or event-based travel like concerts or sports events. (Bloomberg)
