Starbucks is a form of currency to some teens.

Dec 17 2024

Starbucks is a form of currency to some teens. According to a recent report from Cafeteria, many teens prefer to trade Starbucks drinks to pay back money that they owe to friends. In fact, over 30% of teens say they offer to “pay next time” with a coffee instead of using cash. Eighty nine percent of teens know their friends’ exact Starbucks orders, showing just how familiar they are with the brand, which is the favorite coffee spot among the demo. Many also use Starbucks locations as popular meetup spots, driving their spending. According to the report, some menu items (grilled cheese and cake pops) and limited-time drinks are also a draw for younger visitors. (Fast Company)
