Airbnb is facing criticism for plans to host mock gladiator fights at Rome’s Colosseum like in Gladiator II. While some fans are excited, local lawmakers, like councilor Massimiliano Smeriglio, oppose the event, arguing it promotes “hyper tourism” and threatens the city’s identity. But the brand is moving forward, and plans to select 16 participants to don gladiator costumes for the mock battles in May 2025. It will even be hosted by a character from the film, Lucius, though not the same actor. (Business Insider)
