Dancing With the Stars is finally getting Gen Z’s attention. Thanks to a new kind of celeb contestant—including top TikToker Charli D’Amelio, Netflix star Harry Jowsey, college-aged Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik, and more—the show is reaching a younger audience. As of 2022, the show’s average audience age was 63.5-years-old. And they aren’t abandoning that audience, as was proved when the show returned to ABC after a season exclusively on Disney+ lost that viewership, but they are now prioritizing social content to attract the next gen. Professional partners, namely 19-year-old Rylee Arnold who danced with Jowsey and Nedoroscik, have been pivotal in making TikTok content behind the scenes (with millions of views) from dance rehearsals to gossip to what they’re eating.
