Rejoyn is an app for coping with depression, aiming to enhance brain function for its users. While therapy apps have been around for a while, this app stands out for being the first of its kind to receive FDA approval for treating depression, differing from traditional talk therapy. The six-week program on the app has users identify then remember four specific emotions by looking at images of people’s faces and rating their alignment with that emotion. This is known as the Emotional Faces Memory Task (EMFT) and is designed to strengthen neural connections in the brain. The app is currently available for anyone download, but it’s intended for users 22-years-and-older who have been diagnosed with major depression disorder. (Mashable)
