A German town renamed itself “Swiftkirchen” in honor of Taylor Swift. Known as one of Germany’s poorest cities, Gelsenkirchen is using every opportunity to leverage its stadiums, which are its main attention and economy booster. Last month, the city briefly adopted the name “Swiftkirchen” in anticipation of three concerts by Taylor Swift, incorporating it into various fan attractions. The city held an auction for several of the “Swiftkirchen” signs, and one of them can now be seen on display at the Haus der Geschichte museum. (ABC News)
