Gen Z is regretting overspending habits and splitting expenses with friends. A recent Cash App survey among 16-26-year-olds reveals that 53% admit to overspending. And 79% specifically regret excessive spending last summerâespecially on dining out. (YPulse did report on the phenomenon of “daylight spending time.”) On top of their own budgeting, another 73% of Gen Z have had at least one negative experience cost-sharing with friends. This is bad news for summer fun, as young people are increasingly anxious about going on vacation with friends because of the financial burden: 42% have argued with friends over splitting costs in general.
