Fake House of the Dragon banners are popping up across the world—but they look pretty convincing. Videos and images across social media show banners depicting the House of the Dragon family crests hanging from popular landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge and the Eiffel Tower. But, even if they look super realistic, visitors will find no flags there—the content was generated using CGI. The Game of Thrones official accounts and a New York tourism Instagram account marked the original video as a paid partnership ahead of the show’s season two premiere. News12 Brooklyn even initially reported the banners as real but has since updated their story, calling the videos “computer-generated.” And while most thought the banners were truly there, most of Gen Z’s trained eye for AI could see right through the ploy.
