Disney is cracking down on password sharing for its streaming services. For months, the company has been indicating that it will implement a crackdown in order to reduce costs and improve the profitability of Disney+ and Hulu. Other streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max have been implementing similar measures by sending out emails warning users when they notice one account is logging in from various locations. Disney was experiencing slow growth and sought to increase revenue streams by cracking down on password sharing; and although consumers initially reacted negatively, the company’s quarterly results have since shown significant improvement.
