A recent survey by Intelligent magazine found that some employers are going out of their way to not hire Gen Z.

Jan 10 2024

A recent survey by Intelligent magazine found that some employers are going out of their way to not hire Gen Z. Out of 800 managers, directors, and executives, 39% stated a preference for hiring older job seekers instead of recent college graduates, even being willing to offer more benefits and higher salaries to attract older professionals. This was partially due to the perception that young professionals do not make a good first impression in job interviews—stating they struggle with eye contact and demand unreasonable compensation. Additionally, 20% of employers claim recent college graduates even brought a parent to a job interview—which doesn’t really align with the way we know Gen Z treat their career path. Older generations might be finding the young professionals “difficult,” but YPulse data shows this gen is really just approaching the corporate world with a new outlook—one that brands should not refute if they want fresh minds on their team.
