Messaging app Beeper is still trying to bring iMessage to Android. The app gives Android users the ability to send texts to iPhones with the classic blue iMessage bubbles, eliminating the stigma of the green text. After shutdowns for previous methods by Apple, the company’s latest fix involves users owning or renting a jailbroken iPhone and keeping it connected to power and Wi-Fi at all times. But if Apple finds a way to block this method, Beeper does not have plans to respond. The brand believes Apple’s actions are hard to defend and that the only reason for blocking the app may be to boost iPhone sales. But at least among Gen Z, the brand needs no help with that: YPulse data shows Apple and iPhone both rank high in Gen Z’s top brands for the year as the majority of young smartphone owners are Apple loyalists.
