Hinge just launched “One More Hour,” a new program aiming to address the loneliness epidemic among Gen Z. The program is backed by a $1M fund providing grants to social groups in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York City. The grants, up to $250K each, will support organizations offering affordable in-person opportunities for young adults to connect. Research indicates today’s young adults have 1K fewer hours of in-person connection a year, partly due to a lack of accessible third spaces. Hinge will be working with DoSomething Strategic and the Foundation for Social Connection to put together impact benchmarks and involve Gen Z judges in grant selection. Overall, the initiative aligns with Hinge’s efforts to combat loneliness as they’re also joining the Coalition to End Social Isolation & Loneliness. Gen Z’s calls for third spaces is something YPulse has been tracking this year and we’ll be exploring brands’ role in our upcoming trend report. (PR Newswire)
