Contraceptive pills will be made available for free in pharmacies in the U.K. starting next month. The National Health System (NHS) has been struggling to keep up the number of patients needing care in the country since the pandemic, and the waiting time has reached record high numbers. To free up GP appointments, contraceptive pills will be available over the counter in pharmacies across the U.K. As a result of this new policy, it’s expected that around half a million British women will gain access to the pill without having to contact their GP next year.
