Gen Z might be able to ditch their resumes as skills-based hiring is on the rise.

Nov 08 2023

Gen Z might be able to ditch their resumes as skills-based hiring is on the rise. According to a Test Gorilla report, over 70% of employers across four continents say skills-based hiring is more effective than relying on résumés and 89% say their organizations have improved employee retention when hiring for skills. As job seekers rapidly send out hundreds of resumes at a time, job listing platforms quickly become flooded and people become names on a .pdf file, but as major companies like Walmart hire for skills (and omit certain requirements like college degrees) there’s a better chance for everyone involved. YPulse data shows the majority of Gen Z job seekers are worried about job listings asking for too much experience to begin with, but skills are something they can develop in more than one way.
