Google is working to add accessibility and collaboration tools to classroom settings. This week, Google presented new learning features at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) exposition, featuring an expanded version of the reading mode, pairing with sign language interpreters on Google Meet, and artificial intelligence-powered classroom question suggestions. Teachers can use this AI feature on YouTube video-based assignments, where they are able to “add their own questions or modify AI-powered suggestions as well.” The company is working on making this service available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Malay. While YPulse research shows that Gen Z and Millennials are most likely to turn to Google when they want to learn something outside the classroom, it makes sense that the company would also upgrade their in-classroom learning services as well.
