The Obama Foundation has introduced a new initiative called MBK Model Communities to aid boys and young men of color. Former President Barack Obama made the announcement in Chicago as part of the broader “My Brother’s Keeper” alliance, which was established after Trayvon Martin’s murder. Four cities—Newark, Tulsa, Omaha, and Yonkers—have been recognized for their successful efforts in assisting young men of color. The former president praised the impact of the “My Brother’s Keeper Alliance” in helping community leaders address issues faced by the next generation. The selected Model Communities will serve as examples for other regions, and will be receiving support such as coaching, resources, and evaluation from the MBK Alliance. (Essence)
