Young adults are divided about working in or out of the office. In the same Dell Technologies study mentioned above, “29% of respondents said remote work is important, but another 29% said they favor office-based roles.” The split is due in part to a continuing debate around workplace standards: while young workers are changing workplace trends, some are still dealing with strict rules. For example, Elon Musk told employees to work in office at least 40 hours a week when he started as head of Twitter, Disney’s Bob Iger told employees to report to the office at least four days a week, and JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon is against remote work entirely and is tracking employees with ID swipes. YPulse’s Employment and Career Goals report data shows that while young people are returning to the office, 60% of Gen Z and Millennials want the future of work to be hybrid. (Business Insider)
