Out of all age groups, Gen Z is most eager to holiday shop. YPulse’s Holiday Shopping Plans report data shows that 68% of Gen Z said they will go Black Friday shopping this year compared to 60% of Millennials. Retailers and analysts are reporting that on Black Friday, hordes of Gen Z ventured to malls across the country. Though, Gen Z’s shopping experience was less about buying and more about going out as a group and having fun. Mall operators recall seeing crowds of young shoppers over Thanksgiving weekend and said they were visiting “top Gen Z brands and fashion department stores” the most. According to industry experts, the majority of what they did buy was thanks to social media recommendations, which plays a major role in young consumers’ shopping behaviors. (CNN)
