Disney Parks and RICE are bringing Black small business owners to Disney World as part of a new supply chain program. The Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE) is a non-profit organization based in Atlanta, that functions as a “business generator designed to inspire and support Black entrepreneurs.” Recently, about 60 Black entrepreneurs were able to spend two days in Disney World to participate in panel discussions and networking sessions led by Disney and learned life changing skills in “sessions focused on storytelling, leadership, customer service, and supplier diversity.” One of the business owners included Zoe Oli, the 10-year-old CEO of her start-up business Beautiful Curly Me which is aimed at creating dolls who look like her. The first wave of this Supply Chain Accelerator Program invited “35 companies owned by Black entrepreneurs, 66% of whom are women-owned and featured companies from industries such as consulting, food and beverage, IT and software, media, transportation and retail.” (Black Enterprise)
