It’s going to take more than snacks to get Gen Z in the office. As young Gen Z continues to enter the workforce, they’re approaching prospective opportunities with mature judgment. In the past, office perks like standing desks, ping pong tables, and free food were fun ways to encourage employees to come into the office, but now it’s going to take more effort from employers. Ultimately, Gen Z expects a sense of belonging in the workplace through inclusivity, a sense of community, and growth opportunities. According to LinkedIn, “roughly 80% of Gen Zers want to work for an employer that aligns with their beliefs” and a Workplace Intelligence study also shows that “74% of Millennial and Gen Z respondents were planning to leave their current companies due to a lack of development opportunities.” YPulse data shows that Gen Z still care about food-related perks, but mental health support, retirement benefits, and unlimited time off are top priorities for them.
