After the midterm elections, college voters and voting rights activists are bringing to light the many difficulties young voters experienced.

Nov 23 2022

After the midterm elections, college voters and voting rights activists are bringing to light the many difficulties young voters experienced. While Gen Z voters were able to address their biggest concerns and make their voices heard in record numbers this year, they faced issues when casting their ballots. Across the U.S., voting rights groups and get-out-the-vote organizers for college students noted many cases of “students who struggled to decipher confusing voter ID requirements, waited in hours-long lines at polling places, or never received their absentee ballots”—and some college voters were even denied federally protected provisional ballots. Activists are worried that these incidents may have disenfranchised some students and are pushing for lawmakers to expand on the same-day voter registration policies.
