Burger King is sending customers mean texts to teach a lesson on child bullying. November 9th was National Bullying Day, and in association with child protection organizations Les Papillons and The Butterflies, Burger King France sent out abusive texts like “you’re ugly” and “you’re useless” to raise awareness. Confused recipients of the messages were promptly directed to Papillion’s website where they could donate in support of bullying prevention. For in-person restaurant-goers, toys were left out of kids meals which “led to complaining parents being given a leaflet by team members which read, ‘If we extorted your child at school, would you realize it so easily? They would then also be given the missing toy.” The attention-grabbing marketing scheme may be questionable to some, but YPulse’s Ad / Marketing Effectiveness report data shows that 41% of Millennial parents like when ads have a positive message.
