Germany unveiled plans to become one of the first European countries to legalize marijuana. German consumers will soon be able to legally enjoy joints as they become one of the first countries in the continent to allow the recreational use of marijuana. The ambitious plan—described by the Health Minister as the “most liberal cannabis liberalization in Europe”—will boost the country’s tax revenue, and create an estimated 27,000 jobs. Gen Z and Millennials are known for being well-behaved when it comes to drugs and alcohol consumption—hence their reputation as the sober-curious generations—and mostly turn to drugs to take care of their well-being, especially their mental health. But it’s not a closed door for these gens. YPulse’s data from the Health, Drugs & Risky Behavior Report shows that 13% of Gen Z and 22% of Millennials in Western Europe have already experimented with marijuana, and 40% show interest in related recreational products too.
