Melanin and Mental Health is a podcast that guides listeners through all things mental health in the Black community. Eliza Boquin and Eboni Harris host the show and are passionate about bringing stigmas to light, like the fact that “Black men are more likely to be misdiagnosed with a personality disorder” and how “some therapists may wrongly overshadow their client’s thoughts and feelings with their own experiences.” Approaching therapy can be intimidating for the BIPOC community and these women not only bring expert advice, they share their own experiences and stories with their listeners. YPulse’s TV and Entertainment report data shows that 72% of Black Gen Z and Millennials are listening to podcasts, which is more than their White peers (63%). It’s important for young BIPOC listeners to have access to mental health content they can specifically relate to and benefit from. (Psychology Today)
