Google Maps is leaning into Gen Z trends by helping them “vibe check” places they plan on visiting. The new Neighborhood Vibe feature will give users “recommendations [that] are based on a vague combination of artificial intelligence, and local user reviews and photos.” In a bird’s eye view, users can hover over maps and pinpoint locations that provide photos with reviews describing the vibes of the place tacked onto them. To demo the feature, Google Maps used the Latin Quarter of Paris as an example, and although it’s rich with history, it may not be the most Gen Z-friendly. Plus, not every neighborhood is going to have so much info around it, which may prove an issue. Nevertheless, this is one of many new updates Google is implementing to attract Gen Z. YPulse’s Self Taught trend report shows that Gen Z are visual learners: 86% prefer to learn something new through video compared to 14% through text. (Mashable)
