Google is hell-bent on bringing Gen Z back with a ton of new tools and dynamic search functions. YPulse’s Self-Taught trend report data shows Google and YouTube are still the top places Gen Z and Millennials are searching when they want to learn something new. But this week, Google announced its plans to roll out a new visual search experience to lure Gen Z away from using TikTok as their main search engine. The changes are aiming to target how young people are actually using the web. One of the major differences will be new shortcuts added to the Google app’s home screen that can “translate text using their camera, solve a math homework problem, identify music, or shop from your screenshots” in order to make searching faster and more visual. Another picturesque change will be seen in their efforts to do away with a list of blue links and swap them for images, maps, and colorful modules. (Mashable, Wired)
