The Great Resignation is far from slowing—and it has to do with young workers wanting to further their skills. YPulse’s What’s Next For Work trend report data shows that 80% of Gen Z and Millennials have felt burnt out because of work—and according to a new Microsoft survey of 20K employees across eleven countries, it’s making over half of Gen Z and Millennial workers consider a job change this year. Part of the reason has to do with the “belief that ‘learning requires leaving,’ with 55% saying that changing companies is the ‘best way’ to develop their skills.” However, 73% say they would stay at their current job if it was easier to change roles within the company. In the wake of mass layoffs, with big tech companies like Meta and Google cutting entire departments, Microsoft’s report shows that by offering the opportunity for employees to “upskill,” it would help them with both retention and overall productivity.
