Gen Z loves watching influencer shopping hauls—and now they’re getting more sustainable. Huge fast fashion hauls dominate YouTube and TikTok and the hashtag #SheinHaul has a whopping 6.5 billion views. While these hauls are typically associated with fast fashion giants like Shein, Zara, Boohoo, Revolve, and Amazon, secondhand platforms are jumping in on them now, too. We know Gen Z is grappling with shopping responsibly, but they also want looks that make them feel good/appear trendy—and they’re looking to social media for these recommendations instead of browsing through stores online or in-person. In order to make hauls more sustainable, platforms like Depop and ThredUp are working to support creators who showcase thrifted hauls. Despite the fact that none of the items have an associated link, the purpose is to inspire viewers and give them tips on how to find stylish secondhand items. (Vogue Business)
