Black List and Google’s new fellowship will support Black voices in television. The Black List identifies and showcases the work of “overlooked” screenwriters, and they’re teaming with YouTube on a Black List x YouTube Originals Black Voices Creator Fellowship to “nurture the next wave of creatives from underrepresented communities.” After a series of submission and screening phases, four writers will receive $40K each for “developing a pitch for their television series that authentically reflects the Black experience.” Chosen writers will also be paired with a showrunner for mentorship. YPulse’s Representation in Action report found that 53% of BIPOC young people think stories centered about BIPOC individuals should be written by BIPOC individuals. (Deadline)
