KFC is launching a clothing line in collaboration with U.K. streetwear brand Hype. Launching merch has been trending for food and bev brands for some time now, with young consumers bringing back logomania to sport fun, kitschy brands. McDonald’s launched “Golden Arches Unlimited,” their first-ever, permanent online shop with themed merchandise, in 2019. Meanwhile, Oreo debuted a clothing collection in collaboration with influencers from around the world, Sprite dropped a streetwear line developed by young creators and designer Jeff Staples as a way to promote their “Sprite Ginger” flavors, and German candy company Haribo teamed up with PUMA to bring its beloved confections to life with a suite of toys, apparel, and footwear. Now, KFC is joining the party with a 47-piece fashion collection of KFC-branded hoodies, racer jackets, sliders, bucket hats, and more, which will be released this week. Many pieces feature KFC’s tongue-in-cheek slogans—including a loungewear set with “It’s Finger Lickin’ Good” emblazoned on it—as well as KFC accessories, including a bucket bag designed to look like, well, a bucket of KFC chicken.
