Gen Z has high expectations for the workplace—and employers are here for it. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 11 million jobs were unfilled in the month of May alone—and now employers are ready to tap Gen Z workers for their “energy and creativity” to offset the labor shortage. More employers are allowing tattoos, piercings, vibrant colored hair, 4-day work weeks, work from anywhere policies, offering financial advice, mental health benefits, and planning career paths for their employees (some are even allowing dogs in the office). Employers know that it’s hard to keep young workers during the Great Resignation, which is why they’re willing to not only encourage Gen Z onto their teams, but make sure they want to stay. YPulse research shows that 68% of Gen Z say that having a job that supports their mental health is extremely/very important and supporting their lives outside of work is a top priority. (NYT)
