Grocery shopping (specifically at Trader Joe’s) is a hot date night activity for Gen Z. The #TraderJoesDateNightChallenge has taken over TikTok, with couples throwing down a Rock, Paper, Scissors battle for who gets to pick each course of their dinner. Some are able to post videos like a Trader Joe’s date night meal for under $20. According to an Axios Harris Poll 100, “[Gen] Z believes that Trader Joe’s is the most reputable company in the U.S., beating out 99 other popular companies like Tesla and Amazon.” The grocer appeals to Gen Z by being able to keep costs down “with 80% of their products being a private label,” especially as food prices surge during inflation. By taking note of viral trends, brands could essentially model ideas after the date night challenge. In fact, YPulse’s Dating & Relationships report data shows 68% of Gen Z agree, “I would appreciate date night ideas from brands.” (Mashed)
