H&M is launching a biodegradable baby clothing line to target sustainable-minded Millennial parents. YPulse told you about how fashion brands are getting serious about sustainability—and young people tell us that creating more eco-friendly products is the top way that brands can help the environment. Meanwhile, our sustainability report found that 28% of Millennial parents in Western Europe buy sustainable clothing to help the environment. Recently, Swedish fast-fashion brand H&M debuted a biodegradable clothing collection for babies featuring 12 pieces, including tops, bottoms, jackets, and blankets. The fully compostable clothing features adjustable cuffs and foldable waistbands to make them “extendable and modifiable enough to handle any sudden newborn growth spurts.” The organic cotton items are 100% biodegradable and once the clothes are completely worn out, they can be tossed into an at-home compost pile. Additionally, the collection is “certified circular” by the nonprofit organization Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, which shows that products are free of harmful chemicals to the environment and humans, and are produced with 100% recycled water and renewable energy.
