Colleges are using telehealth therapy to support students during summer break. Just because school’s out of session, doesn’t mean students’ needs disappear, and colleges are recognizing the fact that their students are stressed beyond regular working hours. Several colleges across the country are implementing teletherapy that operate 24/7, with some working with telehealth firm TimelyMD after enrollments spiked from 10% prior to the pandemic to 75% after. Students will receive care if they were registered this past spring or will be for the fall, and by expanding their counseling staff, “students could have choices about meeting with someone whose experience better matches their own, regarding gender identities, racial and ethnic background.” YPulse research shows 77% of Gen Z and Millennials say maintaining their mental health has become more important to them during the pandemic and 59% say they’ve been going the extra mile to take care of mental health during this time.
