For Pride Month, the biggest social platforms are paying homage to their LGBTQ+ creators (beyond rainbow logos).YPulse’s research shows Gen Z is more likely to be LGBTQ+ than any other gen, but they want brands to go beyond rainbow washing to reach them. TikTok, Meta, Snap, and YouTube are showing support for their LGBTQ+ users and creators both on and off their platforms. TikTok is a major sponsor behind the L.A. Pride Parade and is featuring twelve notable queer creators, dubbed LGBTQ+ TikTok Trailblazers, on their float, spreading a message of “collective visibility and power.” On their Horizon Worlds metaverse, Meta is celebrating Pride by “hosting a premiere for the documentary March For Dignity, which chronicles the LGBTQ+ community in Tbilisi, Georgia and its efforts to host the nation’s first-ever Pride parade.” On it’s Facebook and Instagram platforms, Meta is also continuing support in their ecommerce spaces, highlighting queer-owned small businesses. YouTube is furthering their promotion of the Shorts function, and for this month, they’re carrying out a Shorts Challenge where “each user who contributes to the Come Through! for Pride initiative triggers a $1 donation to The Trevor Project.” Finally, Snap is continuing their themed Spotlight Challenges and this month’s Pride challenge is offering $5K to the grand prize winner who showcases how they best get ready for the occasion.
